Senior Backend Developer (Java/Kotlin)

TechPods is a UK-based technology co-sourcing company based in Bulgaria. We're currently looking for a Senior Backend Developer to lead the development of a new digital marketing start-up. The position is open for our UK - based partner whose purpose is to build a cutting-edge platform that will connect digital entrepreneurs and business in order for them to thrive in the modern business landscape.

This pivotal role involves taking a crucial part in designing and developing the platform from the grounds-up, while taking ownership and choosing the right methods to do so. As a Senior Backend Developer for our platform, you'll play an important role in turning the business' goals into a successful reality.

What you’ll be doing

• Collaborate with the team to conceptualize, develop, and deploy a robust web and mobile based platform
• Design and implement scalable, performant, and maintainable code that forms the backbone of the platform's functionalities
• Utilize your expertise in Java or Kotlin to create efficient backend system that seamlessly interact with front-end components
• Integrate third-party APIs, REST, and GCP services to enhance the platform's capabilities and interoperability
• Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality, maintain consistency, and adhere to best practices
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues promptly to ensure a seamless user experience
• Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in Java, Kotlin, and GCP, and contribute innovative ideas to enhance platform features

What we’re looking for

• Proven experience as a Java/Kotlin developer, with a robust portfolio showcasing successful projects
• Proficiency in Java and/or Kotlin programming languages, along with a deep understanding of software development principles
• Familiarity with modern frameworks, libraries, and tools relevant to Java/Kotlin development
• Experience with REST API design, microservices architecture, and backend development
• Solid understanding of version control systems, particularly Git
• Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to optimize application performance
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment
• Preferred: Familiarity with GCP services, including Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage, and BigQuery.
• Preferred: Previous involvement in developing startup platforms or applications
